Sustainable Engineering Practices
Stormwater Pond Construction
- The Engineering Department installed a stormwater pond near Front St and Fulton St in 2023 and plans to install a pond near Honey Ct in the near future. These ponds will treat stormwater that previously had minimal treatment before discharging into the Fox River.
Street Narrowing
- During street reconstruction projects, the Engineering Department analyzes each street. As part of the process, the City may propose narrowing a street to decrease impervious surfaces. Narrower streets can also have the added benefit of slowing traffic.
Lawrence Drive Conversion
- In 2024, the City along with Wisconsin DOT, is converting a section of Lawrence Drive from four travel lanes to two lanes, one middle turning lane, and bike lanes. A crosswalk with rectangular rapid flashing beacons is being installed at the Preserve Trail for safer pedestrian access. This conversion provides bike and pedestrian connectivity in this area and provides increased safety for these individuals.
