The De Pere Police Department currently employs seventeen full and part time crossing guards.  Some have been employed in that capacity for over thirty years and still enjoy the responsibility.

During a normal school day, Crossing Guards are assigned to a corner at three different times.  They are in place to assist children to school in the morning.  They return to make sure the morning kindergarten population gets home safe and the afternoon session arrives on time.  The final assignment for the day is to cross the children toward home and their families.

The Crossing Guards employed by the De Pere Police Department are on staff during the school year only and enjoy the summers off.
