DE PERE, WI – De Pere Health Department is collaborating with the De Pere Police Department, St. Norbert College and Vivent Health to provide a presentation on situational awareness, including information about the opioid crisis in our community and responding to active threats. This presentation will be held Thursday, Oct. 26th, from 6 to 8:30 pm, in St. Norbert College's Bemis Conference Center, 299 3rd Street.
The “Community Health & Safety Educational Event” is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Green Bay Area Crimestoppers is also supporting the event.
The event’s topics and presentations will provide valuable knowledge about situational awareness and how to respond effectively in critical situations. This important evening will feature two informative one-hour presentations, including:
Opioid Crisis
This session will provide attendees with a profound understanding of the opioid crisis that affects our community. Carly Kowitz, a Prevention Specialist from Vivent Health, will provide insights into the community's response to this pressing issue. Education on the use of Narcan, a life-saving opioid overdose reversal medication, will also be a crucial component of this presentation.
Active Threats
De Pere Police Officer Jedd Bradley will lead the second presentation, focusing on active threat situations. Attendees will learn how to recognize warning signs and respond swiftly in the event of an active threat, contributing to the safety of themselves and those around them.
De Pere Health Department and its valued partners look forward to this evening dedicated to enhancing public safety awareness and preparedness.
“We invite all community members to join us for this informative and impactful evening,” said Deborah Armbruster, De Pere Health Department Health Officer/Director. “Your attendance and participation can help create a safer and more resilient De Pere.
