De Pere pedestrian, crosswalk awareness event happening June 22

The City of De Pere will take part in a regional crosswalk education and enforcement event this Thursday, June 22, 2023. This education event is part of the Yield to Your Neighbor campaign and is sometimes referred to as “Frogger.” It features staff and volunteers walking along select crosswalks while officers monitored traffic.

De Pere Police Department and De Pere Public Works are once again partnering with Wello and neighboring public safety agencies for this campaign. Vehicles who are stopped for violations of yielding to pedestrian laws will either be given educational materials and warnings and/or tickets.

In De Pere, expect these specific areas of emphasis on June 22:

  • 7:45 am until 9:00am at intersection N 8th St. and Cedar St.
  • 9:15 am until 10:00 am at Intersection S. Broadway St. and Bomier St.

As a friendly reminder: Drivers, please adhere to posted speed limits, exercise added caution around school zones, and remember to yield to pedestrians. Pedestrians, please be alert, focus on your surroundings (not devices or other distractions), and make eye contact with drivers before entering crosswalks to make sure they see you.
