Lifeguard Training & Certification Opportunities
The De Pere Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department offers limited Lifeguard Courses for those candidates wishing to get certified. Please note the following:
- You must be at the entire class and pass to obtain the Lifeguard Certifications.
- Participants must be able to swim. A prerequisite skills test will be conducted the first day of class.
- Participants must be 15 or older by the last day of class.

Current lifeguard job opportunities
Each summer, De Pere relies on a talented, dedicated staff of lifeguards at its aquatic facilities. This includes Regular/Full Time staff as well as Substitute staff.
To view our current lifeguard job openings in De Pere, and for more information and details on these positions (and others), click here. We start hiring for the summer early! January seasonal positions typically post with many filling before the end of March. Those applying for lifeguard positions do not need to have certifications prior to the interview.
Get your feet wet first with De Pere's Future Lifeguard Program
In August we plan to hold a future lifeguard event for participants aged 14 and older! This event will include pre-skills swim testing, corrective feedback on stroke work, basic water safety training, and mock interviews. An excellent option for anyone considering applying to be a lifeguard in the future.
