History
At their meeting on September 28, 1961, Park Commissioners recommended naming a new city park "G. E. Braisher Park." After more than two years of developing this space, May 31, 1964, was declared “Dad Braisher Day” in the City of De Pere, courtesy of a proclamation from Mayor William Gross. As part of this celebration, a formal Braisher Park Dedication ceremony was also scheduled, featuring musical performances and a short parade. Braisher was a local icon who coached teams in De Pere to four championships, earned spots in multiple Wisconsin sports hall of fames, and also served as equipment manager of the Green Bay Packers for two decades, including during the legendary Lombardi era.
