About De Pere

De Pere is a growing city on the banks of the Fox River. Because the river flows through De Pere, we have not one, but two downtown areas providing opportunities for businesses to thrive. Our approximately 788 businesses employ over 15,000 employees, not just in our downtown areas, but throughout our city limits. As seen on the chart, the majority of businesses employ white-collar workers, followed by blue-collar and those in the service industry.

The Fox River also creates opportunities for industry and recreation, alike. Many people utilize the river for fishing and water sports, while businesses use it for transportation and tourism.

De Pere is within close proximity to multiple colleges and universities that feature programs in STEM, manufacturing, business management, and more. De Pere itself is home to nationally-ranked St. Norbert College, located on the western side of the river. St. Norbert currently enrolls 2,200 students. The Donald J. Schneider School of Business and Economics offers an MBA program, and the Gehl-Mulva Science Center houses the Medical College of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) main campus is located less than 15 miles northeast of De Pere. This Division I school enrolls over 8,000 students (2021) across four campuses in Northeastern, Wisconsin. The new STEM Innovation Center is set to offer advanced learning opportunities in many fields including Engineering.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) is a third institution of higher education near De Pere. The main campus is located under 10 miles northwest of the city in Green Bay with two other campus locations and various Centers in Northeastern and Northern, Wisconsin. NWTC features numerous programs including manufacturing, STEM, IT, and more. In 2017, NWTC graduated over 3,000 students, and 94.7% of those graduates remained in Wisconsin to work.
