Constructing, Adding, or Replacing a Driveway, Parking Lot, or Sidewalk

Perhaps you've always wanted to replace your driveway or add a section for additional parking. To construct, add or alter a driveway, sidewalk or curb cut, here are some important resources to help guide you through the process.

Six Key Things to Know about Driveways & Curb Cuts for New Construction, Additions, and Alterations:

  1. Work to the apron and sidewalk section of the driveway shall be done by a contractor who is bonded and licensed with the City of De Pere Public Works Department.
  2. A property owner may do their own work without being bonded and licensed.
  3. The width of the driveway at the property line shall not exceed 30 feet.
  4. Driveways and their extensions to the interior side yard shall not be closer than two feet (2) to the lot line. This area shall be pervious for storm water runoff.
  5. New driveways and sidewalks require a grade permit application to allow a City Engineer to set sidewalk grade stakes for proper grade height.
  6. An inspection shall be made prior to the driveway and sidewalks being poured.
