Zoning in the City of De Pere

The Zoning Ordinance of the City of De Pere is adopted for the following purposes: To lessen congestion in the streets; to secure safety from fire, panic, and other dangers; to promote and to protect the public health, safety, comfort, convenience, and general welfare; to provide adequate standards of light, air, and open space; to prevent the overcrowding of land, to avoid undue concentration of population; to facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewage, schools, parks, and other public requirements; and to foster a more rational pattern of relationship between residential, business, commercial, and manufacturing uses for the mutual benefit of all.

What is Zoning?

Zoning regulates the use of land in the City of De Pere, which is important to ensure that incompatible land uses are avoided and that potential impacts to other land uses are limited. Zoning is accomplished by designating zoning districts to different parts of the City.

Within each zoning district, certain land uses are permitted and other land uses are restricted. The Zoning Ordinance lists the permitted uses in each district along with other require­ments such as minimum lot size, building setbacks and maximum building heights.
