The De Pere Police Department currently employs seventeen crossing guards during the school year.  Some have been employed in that capacity for over thirty years, and are immensely proud of their responsibility.  
 
During the school year, Crossing Guards are assigned to a corner before and after school.  They are in place to guide children safely across the busy streets to school in the morning.  They return to guide the children towards the safety of their home and families after school.
 

In the rain, sleet, or snow, Crossing Guards are on duty at their stations ensuring safe passage across our busy streets and intersections.
